Period 2 Creative Writing March 7

All scripts should be finished,  typed, and copied for distribution on Monday, March 7

The exam will be run as a short rehearsal and performance of a script written by a group other than your own.

This final exam is based on script writing and acting we have been working during the 1st Marking Period of Spring 2011.  You will need a copy of the script of another group, pen and loose leaf for this exam.

“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her.  But once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game."
                                                                              Voltaire

Procedure:
Each group should have no fewer than four copies of the scene you and your group has been working on.  Each member of the group should have at least one full copy.

If there are more than four to a group, one must act as the Director.  The Director may step into the scene if a character is absent or an additional character is needed.

Begin by reading of the whole scene silently.
After everyone is familiar with the setting and the dialogue begin discussing the setting, where things are located.

Read the dialogue without changing anything, at least twice.  Then, as you feel the need, make notes on the copy for additional lines or stage directions you think your group would need to perform the scene.

Take the time to improvise certain parts of the just to see if you can stretch things out for dramatic effect.

You will have ten minutes to rehearse before you present the scene.

Reminder to the audience and the writers:  Remain respectful and silent so the actors can best concentrate.

Each group will be allowed to perform the scripts of every other group.

Give the class a few moments to give you constructive criticism- perhaps so you can repeat the scene to see how the suggestions affect the play.

Grades will be based, on part, on the quiet cooperation of the audience during presentations.
